Consensus meetings
Norecopa arranges international consensus meetings on the application of the 3Rs to specific areas of research involving animals.
Norecopa's next international consensus meeting will be on Harmonisation of the Care and Use of Agricultural Animals in Research and will be held at Oslo Airport Gardermoen, from 10 - 12 May 2011.

The meeting will address, among other issues:
• Update on guidelines and legislation for the care and use of farm animals
• Update on farm animal welfare and welfare indicators
• Environmental enrichment
• Farmyard studies and laboratory animal science: two sets of standards?
• Anaesthesia and analgesia
• Positive reinforcement training

The first international consensus meeting, organised by the temporary national platform before Norecopa was founded, was held in May 2005 at Gardermoen, Oslo:
Harmonisation of the Care and Use of Fish in Research
The meeting attracted 100 participants from 10 countries.
Norecopa arranged the second international consensus meeting in May 2008:
Harmonisation of the Care and Use of Animals in Wildlife Research
There were 50 participants from 5 countries at this meeting.
Norecopa arranged the third international consensus meeting in September 2009. This was a sequel to the first meeting and had the same title: Harmonisation of the Care and Use of Fish in Research
There were 61 participants from 7 countries at this meeting.
